SGU is the close arrival, with no long interstate transfer between baggage claim and St. George. Compare current flight times and fares with Las Vegas before choosing the shorter ground trip.
I-15 crosses the Mojave, threads the Virgin River Gorge in Arizona and enters Utah beneath abrupt red walls. Daylight provides clear views through the gorge and across Washington County.
The interstate crosses central and southern Utah before dropping toward the warmer desert. Winter storms can affect higher stretches even when St. George is sunny.
Downtown is compact enough for an evening walk, but Snow Canyon, Ivins, Red Cliffs trailheads and golf courses spread beyond it. A car remains the simplest way to reach the landscape.
The Interstate 15 approach
The southern approach follows I-15 through the Virgin River Gorge. The road narrows between stone walls, then opens into Washington County with Pine Valley Mountain above the desert and red cliffs catching the last light.
