Morning

Snow Canyon State Park

Walk Petrified Dunes or another open sandstone route, cross a lava field, and stop where the full canyon reveals red walls, pale stone and black basalt together. Check current park alerts and closures before departure.

Midday

Cold lunch, shade and a real reset

Return for lunch, a swim or a slow hour away from exposed rock. In hot weather this pause is the day, not a gap between attractions.

Late afternoon and evening

Pioneer Park, then dinner

Climb onto sandstone above town while the light warms, carry a lamp for the return, then settle into the dinner that marks the weekend's center.

Red Hills Desert Garden

Walk among native and water-wise plants beneath Pioneer Park. It is a quieter look at the same desert ecology that shaped the weekend.

A short red-rock trail or downtown coffee

Choose the trail if the weather is cool and the road home can absorb it. Otherwise keep the final hour in town and leave with the canyon still feeling generous.

Take the scenic memory, not a rushed extra stop

Head out after one chosen scene. The Virgin River Gorge belongs to the drive south; Pine Valley Mountain and higher Utah country shape the road north.
